At a time when connection has never been more valued, we’re proud to announce that we’ve just joined Didimo’s investment round to help them make the digital world more humane. The leading creator of high-fidelity digital humans has just raised €1M in an investment round led by Armilar Venture Partners, and in which PME Investimentos also took part.

Didimo enables anyone to quickly and easily create a 3D digital look-alike (from a simple photo) that can be used to interact online. Unlike regular avatars, didimos accurately depict each person’s nuances — facial features and what they uncover. Their solution mixes 3D animation, texturizing, rigging, modeling, among others, to do in just a few seconds what, otherwise, would take hours of work from an artist and expensive hardware/software.

Through this investment, Didimo will be able to keep on with their efforts to innovate the customer experience in the retail, gaming, entertainment, and virtual collaboration industries, revolutionizing the way brands can position themselves and reach their targets. For us, this is very exciting because it allows an interesting synergy between two of our main verticals: emerging technologies and retail. The opportunities from here on out are endless.

Didimo was founded in 2016 and has offices in Oporto, Delaware, and Vancouver. With a team of 27 people, the new funding will be used to hire more talent (technology, sales, and marketing) and for product development, as they’re preparing to announce the upcoming iOS and Android app launch.

“Succeeding in attracting more capital is a huge incentive to our team and proves that the mission of breaking down barriers between the physical and the digital world is relevant to the market. We will continue to work to bring humanity to digital interactions”, says Veronica Orvalho, Didimo’s founder and CEO.

“We truly believe in Didimo’s vision that all digital interactions can and will benefit from a more human touch. The underlying technology and the several use cases already commercially explored by Didimo gives us confidence in the potential impact of digital humans in several contexts in the near future”, explains Alexandre Teixeira dos Santos, head of investments at Bright Pixel.
